I enjoy watching many different kinds of film and have been a loyal fan of the Queen’s Film Theatre for many years. As a supporter of Ulster Rugby I have enjoyed the amazing highs, and a few lows, along the way.   I enjoy listening to music , especially the blues and to guitar riffs . I have been privileged to be able to travel to different countries and to experience other cultures . But as Dorothy , in the Wizard of Oz ,  famously once said ‘there is no place like home’ .

Amanda

My name is Amanda. I have a diploma in Remedial Massage and a certificate in Level 3 Sports Massage.   Massage is a great way to increase the range of motion through soft tissue manipulation and to relieve tension and pain. It is great if you are an athlete or have an active lifestyle.   Remedial massage looks for a remedy and, in many cases, this may not be the area in which pain is felt- otherwise known as referred pain. This treatment also helps to speed up recovery and promote faster healing and is great if you suffer with chronic pain and muscle imbalances eg. arthritis, fibromyalgia, frozen shoulder, sciatica and general back and shoulder pain.   In my spare time I have achieved the brown belt in Jujitsu and am currently working towards my black belt. I also train children aged between four and fourteen. It keeps me fit, helps me to be more patient and is great for my mental well-being

I studied a VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy and progressed to study and complete Level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy.   Fitness is a big part of my lifestyle, from daily training to hiking and snowboarding . I am a very active person with unique interests and abilities that I can share with others.   I am a part of the video production team for Active Wellness and have  written , produced and edited the videos in the Self Care Zone on our website.

A bit about my Fitness Modelling – I started training in 2014 having never set foot in a gym prior to that. I was a complete novice ,but I instantly loved it. I now have achieved first place wins and my Pro status. I made my debut as a Pro Fitness Model in April 2019 travelling to London to compete in the Miami Pro World Championships. After a successful off season I completed a 14 week prep for this competition, training 2 hours a day, 6 days a week and ensuring my diet was on point throughout. This all paid off as I won both of my categories, the Fitness open class and the over 35s and I was delighted to bring home the Gold.
